As the risk of sounding crazy….OK, at the risk of sounding crazier!! Am I the only one who has noticed that backpacks are taking over the world?
I discussed my thoughts with albinorob recently and his response was “I have a backpack, but only to carry my laptop to and from work” and this is my point exactly. Since when do we use backpacks for carrying a laptop? Whatever happened to the soft briefcase style bags? They were made to carry laptops, well some of them were anyway.
When I walk to/from work in London each day it amazes me how many backpacks are on show. I must admit I even have a little chuckle to myself as to me it looks like all these people are on their way to school!
A little while ago the wife was watching X-Factor and one of the acts was auditioning, I think it was on a rooftop somewhere with Gary Barlow. One of the members of this duet was auditioning with a backpack on?!? I think it was Gary who asked what was in it and the answer was something like sun cream!

I am on a train as I write this and having a quick glance around I can spot a number of them. What’s going on?
One of the big issues I have with a lot (not all) of backpack wearers is that they seem to think that, once they have put it on, it disappears into their back meaning they take up no additional room. Yep, they can freely swing around with no need to concern themselves that their bag is smashing into people!?! This has actually just happened…..I am sat on a train and someone got on, walked down isle and would have taken out two others if they hadn’t swerved the destruction ot the backpack lol
I am intrigued though, so if you are a backpack wearer, what do you carry in that bag? Do you think you look like a school child, an older version of Dora the explorer, or just like you are having a midlife crises?
